The most recent outbreak of Coronavirus in China has led to 170 deaths in the country. More so, the disease has been associated with bats. A total of 7,711 people in China are confirmed to have been infected with the virus.
The disease has spread from Wuhan’s Hubei province to the other 31 provinces of China. Also, the disease has been identified in 21 different countries, and controlling the disease is quite challenging, hence poses a severe threat.
Several cases of Corona-virus have been reported in different parts of the world, which is terrifying and a cause for great concern. Increasingly, an American film that was released in the year 2011 narrated a tale that is quite similar to this. More so, other films have similar storylines. 1. The Movie Contagion in The Year 2011 Spoke of a Coronavirus-like Virus
2011’s Contagion spoke of a Coronavirus-like virus that began to spread from China to the remaining parts of the world. The intriguing thing about the movie was at the end. It turned out that the cause of the infection was the bat, which is the same reason for the current spread of the disease.
The movie was directed by Steven Soderbergh and starred by prominent celebrities. Amongst which includes Matt Damon, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, and Gwyneth Paltrow. You can access the film on Netflix or Amazon Prime.
2. Outbreak (1995)
This film is quite similar to Contagion. However, the film revealed a tale of a different virus that was carried this time around by a monkey host from the African rain forest and began infecting the entire population. Nonetheless, the film similar to the coronavirus-like virus as also based on a deadly virus that spreads, which is frightening.
3. Nosferatu (1922)
A ghost ship sailed into a town harbor at night. A gaunt stranger disembarked and was followed by several plague rats. Few days after that scene, the streets were full of funerals. It was a great-early and silent version of “Dracula.” The vampire is the perfect embodiment of disease.
4. Panic in the Streets (1950)
In this film, a man unknowingly has a bubonic plague is loosed in New Orleans, and a detective called Richard Widmark has to track him down before he spreads the ailment. The excellent but too-little-to-see thriller from Elia Kazan portrayed a colorful picture of New Orleans in the year 1950, which was seen as a bonus.
5. The Seventh Seal (1957)
Bubonic plague was everywhere in the 14th century. A knight, which was played by the late Max Von Sydow, challenges Death to a game of Chess. However, the knight was very aware that he can’t win, but can hopefully postpone Death long enough to find meaning to life while living.
6. The Stand (1994)
The Stand produced in 1994 has a storyline of a super flu, jauntily called Captain Trips, kills up to 99% of the world’s population. The rest of the people who were still alive rallied around two opposing figures (the evil Randall Flag and the Saintly Mother Abigail). If not for anything, this humongous best-selling book by Stephen King will make you have a second thought before going through the Lincoln Tunnel.
7. 12 Monkeys (1995)
12 Monkey was produced in the year 1995. The frightening film has a storyline of a virus found in 1996 wipes out most of the world. However, Bruce Willis was sent back from the year 2035 to find the virus to prevent the catastrophe from happening.
8. The Masque of the Red Death (1964)
A highly contagious and devastating disease stalks the land in The Masque of the Red Death. The main character Vincent Price who was a lascivious Prince of Prospero shuts himself away in his castle with his devotes and courtiers in an attempt to stay safe and enjoy himself. However, the director (Edgar Allan Poe) reminds us of this classic tale; even the prominent and wealthy cannot keep Death away.
